Dear America

By Guest Blogger Ruth Woolsey:

Dear United States of America,
I’ve been watching the way things have been playing out lately and wondering how our priorities have gotten so skewed and the prejudice and hate so out of control. It was understandable about the hate when idiots out of fear kept promoting the idea that the races couldn’t get along, but I thought we’d gotten past that by now…unfortunately for the welfare of this nation, we’re not even close.

How sad that we can’t grow emotionally enough to understand that what happened in the past was not perpetrated by those of us living in the now and that to continue to hold us responsible for those errant misdeeds is not only irresponsible, but ludicrous.

I have enough to do taking responsibility for the things I do in my life day to day, to take on the long ago crimes committed by unknown, long dead ancestors…nor do I owe restitution to their descendants other than respect shown to each individual as they have earned it.

I must say that the worst thing I find in this country is the level of illiteracy (inability to read and comprehend, uneducated) that is apparently rampant among all classes of individuals. What happened to demanding a GOOD education for not only our children, but ourselves? I am married to a good man who is probably at a 3rd or 4th grade reading level, having been “passed along” to simply get rid of him. Now there is this apathy toward education that is growing and schools are unable to handle the children who DO attend, let alone teach them enough to actually do more than barely survive life afterward.

I guess I’m old-fashioned (and many will call me a child-beater), but I firmly believe that if these kids knew there were consequences to their posteriors, they would be less inclined to behave as they do now. Our children have become lazy, apathetic beings who in some instances do horrendous things without the least show of remorse or guilt. Our juvenile “jails” are filling with kids unable to get help from a floundering system, their parents despair of regaining control of a situation they lost the handle on long ago and the government labels all of them incompetent. Adults are afraid to “deal” with their children when all it takes is a call to Child Protective Services to have one or both parents accused of abuse…and the children simply smile.

Now, as to the “pure blood” groups…guys and gals, I hate to burst your little bubble, but if you dig back you’re going to find there ain’t no purity in that blood you carry; in fact it’s probably far more polluted by other strains than you realize. That’s what’s great about this country-it’s built and maintained by the biggest bunch of mutts you’ll ever find in one spot.

BE PROUD OF THAT!!!!!!!!

It’s been proven time and again that mutts are far smarter than purebreds. Now to the business of these individuals who think they are better depending upon their sexual orientation or color.Isn’t it about time that we stop judging individuals on the pigmentation God gave them or the people their hearts choose to love. What I care about is how you treat other people, especially the elderly who have paved the way for those of you now…I have to say I don’t give a rat’s ass what color you are or what you do in the privacy of your home. I will say straight out that if you come into my home with the intent of taking from me and mine - color or sexual orientation won’t have a bloody thing to do with the fact that I’m most likely going to put a bullet in you (and possibly more than one if you really piss me off).

Of, by and for the people…when did those words become obsolete?

When did we as a nation stop demanding that our government be answerable to us as a people? We have become so lethargic as a nation that we now let THEM tell us what is best for us instead of US telling them what is best for us. Why did this happen and how do we fix it? I’m sure if this letter gets around and big brother gets his hands on it there are going to be questions about me questioning their authority, but isn’t it one of my basic rights to ask questions and get truthful, honest answers?

Are we truly getting them or their “scripted” versions for public consumption? The only way we’ll ever know for sure is if we stand together as one people and demand they give them to us. We have so many individuals overseas fighting to give those people the right to choose-when did we give up ours?

Ah, well, I’m probably not even close to the middle of everything I want to say, but then again, if every individual wrote to the president telling him as well as the rest of the country how they feel, what their concerns are, ask their questions and demand their answers, perhaps the lethargy, apathy and despair that wraps this nation like a down comforter might just get pushed back and light let in.

 Wishing Everyone Only the Best,

 Ruth Woolsey

Ah AJ and Ruth, Damn it couldn’t have been said any better. Ruth if I were near you, I would hug you and say THANK YOU!! Now me, I am a first generation American. What does that mean?? I was the second in my family to be born in this country. I have a double cousin that is 3 months older than me. What’s a double cousin?? LOL My mother’s sister married my father’s brother.LOL As far as being part of the history in this country I am not, but given the fact that I am of pale skin, and blonde hair I am automatically shoved in the category. The only reason this Koldinskov ended up with a French name is the ultra sound had not been invented back in the dark ages when I was born, and that was the name of the novel my father was reading at the time. LOL Great book BTW.

Now English was not my first language, but I’ll be darned if I got to speak Czech in school. I wasn’t even allowed to speak it at home unless the grandparents came to visit, and that was often, like every weekend. Our homework was always done in English. We took great pride in American history. I went to Disney Land many times growing up. The last time was 1976, American pride was phenomenal. I loved it, I was so proud, that I joined the USAF in 1978, I was 17. My mama had to sign the papers LOL.

Now I look at things and I am appalled. I worked w/ Bosnian refugees when they came here after the war. I speak Serbo-Croation fluently, and I taught an ESL class for them. I would take the old women to the doctor and interpreted for them. The prejudice among them was wild for any doctor that was obviously not an American, but that’s another story. LOL The children of these refugees got their homework in Serbo, un-friggin-believable in my book. America bent over backwards to make them welcome and make them feel at home. This was now their home, thank goodness but they need to like here as Americans. Their children need to learn about American pride.

It’s not just that people group, it’s any people group. Come over, become part of the melting pot, never forget your heritage, but learn the heritage of this beautiful nation. As far as the ancestors of this country, many of them lost their lives, lost their lands, gave up everything to create something absolutely beautiful. Has the country had problems? Most Definitely! I do believe however, if Americans would put partisan bullshit aside & study American history, we might just get it back together. If they don’t study, and we continue on course, we will end up like every other great nation that ever existed, a fallen shambles!! Study history—it always repeats itself.

    Those are my thoughts.
