So, it’s just after 11 PM and this is the first time I’ve sat down at my computer today. I’m in the middle of moving to my new apartment, a cute little place where I’ll practically be sitting on top of the DH every day, but whatevah. Sometimes, you just have to do what you have to do, and we needed to downsize.
Three weeks ago we had no idea we’d be moving before July 1st. Heck, we were just plain hoping to find another place that included heat before the cold weather settled in again for the year. We never imagined our landlord would have found us a place amongst all her properties so quickly or have been so accomodating in letting us move our stuff over a little at a time before the official move in date of July 1st.
So, during the day I pack while the DH is at work, then he comes home and we make a trip or two over to the new place where I unpack and bring the empty totes and boxes back here, then once the huby crashes for the night, I turn on the laptop and get to work on my job-the writing thing. So that’s why I’m writing this post at 11:18. LOL I even brought the laptop over to the new place today when we brought my desk and office chair over to see if I could pick up a hot spot from the library across the street. Nope. No such luck.
I did find out what I need to do to get a library card and use their library during the hours they’re open, which by the way aren’t the same every weekday, either. So hopefully someone will send me some mail to the new place that includes my real name and my new address so that I have proof of residency to get a library card. LOL And speaking of the library, I stepped inside it today and although it was old (it is an historic building) and dated it had every modern convenience, including public computers. I can’t wait to walk the stacks and see what they have in way of research material and fiction, but that will have to wait until after the move and I get the darn library card.
That’s been my life the last few days and suprisingly enough, I’ve actually gotten more written on nights where I’ve spent all day working than on some days where I’ve spent the whole day working on the writing with nothing else to do but write. I hear a lot of, “Since you don’t have a day job you must get a lot of time to write” or “You have so much more time to promo thank I do because I work a full time job”, but you know there are so many more distractions when you spend your whole day at home, writing full-time. Because you still have ringing phones and household chores that are expected to get finished while I’m home and the DH is at work, and of course the internet and the TV are major distractions.
I’m actually hoping once we’re completely into the new apartment and I’m waiting for our cable, Internet, & phone to be hooked up (Sometime on Sat. June 27th) I’ll be able to get a huge amount of writing done. We’ll have to see what actually happens. Well, it’s time for me to actually get some writing done and to download the email for today so, I’ll close this off for now and get some writing done.
Hope you have a fabulous Friday tomorrow and an outstanding weekend!
