What a day, erm … week!!

So, it’s just after one in the afternoon, so when you think about it, my post for today isn’t as late as I figured it would be. I woke up yesterday morning, or I should say, since I didn’t go to bed the night before, i was still up at 6 am when I started having an email issue with my Road Runner email accounts for personal use. Anyway, I contacted Time Warner and they told me my Anti-virus was interfering with my email program. that I needed to remove it and put their own anti-virus, anti-spam, firewall program on my computer if I wanted to fix my wmails issues.

Since I pretty know only enough to type up my blogs and update my wordpress website, I believed the Time Warner technician and uninstalled the Kaspersky Internet Security program and thought ok, now I justed to wait until the program uninstalled and then install the new prgram through Time Warner. Finally, the message popped up to “complete the uninstall process, you must restart you computer. Do you want to restart now or later?”

So, I clicked now. Biggest mistake in my life. Because the computer NEVER restarted. After putting the recovery disk in half a dozen times, I still couldn’t get the computer to start and Windows couldn’t find the cause of the reason my computer had apparently decided to give up the ghost.

You’ve got to understand. I need a webmistress to keep me sane. When i thought Id killed my computer at 6 AM yesterday morning, I thought I’d go nuts. It took me 4 hours to remember that I use Mozy and that it makes daily back ups of certain files on my computer. Not all files of course, but enough of them that I didn’t lose any of my stories in total, just the new stuff I’d written on them since yesterday.

And I lost my iTunes, darnit. I’d last backuped the iTunes onto disc almost 2 months ago so I’m way behind on saving those on backup CD. I’m totally bummed about that, but at least I have some of my library and I only lost about 5K on the WIP I was working on the day before yesterday. So, moral of the story, BACK UP your work. In fact, I’ve invested on unlimited backup through Mozy so now it will back up my entire computer, every day, a couple times a day rather than just a select few files and directories.

So, today I have to make up for the lost work, first for the days worth that disappeared into cyberspace and second for the fact that it took over 14 hours to get enough programs installed back onto my computer to get it at least partially workable. I still have a lot of programs to install, a lot of organizing of recovered files to take care of, but that will have to wait until I meet my latest deadline. Anyway, that’s been my last two days…not a great beginning or middle of the week. Let’s hope the weekend is better!

Until next time,

Bonnie
