I’m totally thrilled about this contract and especially this book!

This is one of those books that just sort of happened. When I was writing Jason’s Accord, Jason’s character was pretty all consuming. I gave him a friend who was more or less in the background. That would be Michael LaRosa. During editing, my editor, Bea, wanted to know more about Michael. There were elements in his character that appealed to her and she wanted his story. I thought about it. And bit by bit, Michael’s character took on life. So much so that for my 2008 NanoWrite I wrote Amazonia, Michael’s story.

Along the way, I met two of Michael’s friends — Blaise and Stavin. They too will be finding their own stories. Stavin is a bit of a bumbler — he’s a cutie who just wants one woman to love. Blaise is dark and brooding — he doesn’t want to be bothered by anyone.

Amazonia opens up on the planet Thermodon where Michael has crash landed. For readers who know Jason’s Accord you know that Michael is a descendant of Earth via Mars. The Thermodonis are descended from the Amazons from Earth — a line that left at the time of Atlantis.

Amazonia has a few elements that were a stretch for me — and I feel more than lucky that I have such a fantastic editor who will work through the bumpy spots that might be there for me! I know she won’t wait until the end of our second draft to tell me about something she thinks may be a problem!
