I had the pleasure of attending a motivational seminar this past week. Not only was it great because they had yummy fondue but I actually got—motivated. One of the exercises the speaker had us do was to write up our own, “Bucket List”. You know, a list of things you want to do in your lifetime. After I had set down my chocolate covered strawberry, I was surprise at how quickly my list grew, and grew, and grew. I never realized there were so many darn things I wanted to do. Some of them were grandiose while others were plain silly, but it’s my list and I’m proud of it. How proud you ask? Well enough to post it here in blogland.
1. Get published by NY.
2. Own my own bookstore someday.
3. Be able to leave the day job and write full-time.
4. Become a mentor for other writers.
5. Build that dream log cabin with my hubby.
6. Visit Germany.
7. Write the historical that is rattling around in my head.
8. Go with my daughter to see a Broadway play.
9. Take a vacation with my son. (He wants us to be on the Amazing Race together.)
10. Go on a third honeymoon with my hubby.
11. Win the RITA. (Hey, I can dream big, right?)
12. Get an agent. (Maybe I should make this number one on the list.)
13. Go to L.A. (I can visit my AJ!)
14. Go on a cruise.
15. Spend a day with my daughter doing nothing else but watching Anne of Green Gables.
16. Take my son to the local Holocaust Memorial museum.
17. Feed a penguin. (The last time I was a the zoo I got to watch feeding time and they were so darn cute.)
18. Make the NY Times Bestseller List. (Again, I’m dreaming big.)
19. Grow a herb garden. (This is even bigger than the NY Times wish since I tend to kill everything.)
20. Write that unicorn book for my daughter.
21. Get some interior decorating skills.
22. Plan a writer’s retreat.
There, now I have declared it to the whole world and according to the speaker that is the first step. The next one is to actually hold myself accountable and make some of these dreams come true. I’ll make sure to keep everyone updated and if you see of any hungry penguins, please let me know.
